Therefore, strict water quality monitoring for electronics factories is not only a requirement for environmental protection but also an essential measure to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Monitoring Objectives

Environmental protection: Ensure that wastewater is appropriately treated before discharge, thereby reducing negative impacts on the environment.

Compliance: Adhere to national and local environmental laws and regulations, avoiding legal risks and penalties.

Process control: Monitor the quality of water used in production processes to ensure product quality and process stability.

Common Monitoring Indicators

Physical parameters: such as temperature, color, turbidity, suspended solids (SS), etc.

Chemical parameters: pH value, dissolved oxygen (DO), chemical oxygen demand (COD) — used to measure the organic matter content in water.

Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD₅) — reflecting the concentration of biodegradable organic substances.

Nutrients such as ammonia nitrogen (NH₃-N), total phosphorus (TP), and total nitrogen (TN).

Heavy metal content, e.g., copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), etc. — these are common pollutants in the electronics industry.

Specific organic compounds, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), etc.

Microbiological indicators: such as coliform bacteria count, etc. Although less critical in electronics factories than in other industries, they may need to be considered under certain circumstances.
