Water Quality Monitoring at Wastewater Treatment Plants: Under normal circumstances, wastewater treatment plants conduct rigorous water quality monitoring of both influent and effluent to ensure that the treated water meets national or local discharge standards. Monitoring indicators include:
Physical parameters: such as temperature, turbidity, color, etc.
Chemical parameters: such as pH value, dissolved oxygen (DO), chemical oxygen demand (COD), five-day biochemical oxygen demand (BOD₅), ammonia nitrogen (NH₃-N), total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), etc.
Microbiological indicators: such as coliform bacteria count, etc.
Water Quality Monitoring of Tailwater Constructed Wetlands: In addition to the wastewater treatment plant itself, the supporting constructed wetlands, which serve as part of the natural purification system, also require regular water quality monitoring to verify the effectiveness of the wetlands in removing pollutants.
Effectiveness Evaluation of Other Treatment Measures: For example, after the implementation of projects such as self-embedded vegetated water-filtering retaining walls, riparian ecological grassed swales, biological buffer strips, and riverbank wetland restoration, water quality monitoring is also needed to assess the actual effectiveness of these measures in improving water quality.
