Bench-top Infrared Oil Analyzer


Traditional component analysis adopts the procedure of sampling first followed by qualitative measurement, which is time‑consuming and fails to obtain measurement data in a timely manner.
The molecular functional groups of most substances can absorb infrared light. By utilizing the absorption and conversion of spectral energy, qualitative analysis and quantitative calculation of internal components can be easily realized.
Based on this fundamental principle, the infrared oil analyzer adopts infrared spectrophotometry. Through spectral scanning of samples, it can display and print the sample spectrum as well as the wavenumber positions of absorption peaks, enabling rapid and accurate determination of the total oil concentration in water bodies.
Definition of petroleum oil:
Under the conditions specified in standard HJ637-2018, substances extracted with tetrachloroethylene or carbon tetrachloride, not adsorbed by magnesium silicate, and exhibiting characteristic absorption at all or part of the spectral bands at wavenumbers of 2930 cm⁻¹, 2960 cm⁻¹ and 3030 cm⁻¹.
Definition of animal and vegetable oil:
Under the conditions specified in standard HJ637-2018, substances extracted with tetrachloroethylene or carbon tetrachloride and adsorbed by magnesium silicate.
In accordance with the recommended methods of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), China has formulated and issued the environmental standard Water quality — Determination of petroleum oil and animal and vegetable oil — Infrared spectrophotometric method (HJ637-2018) based on infrared photometry.
The standard covers two methods: infrared spectrophotometry and non‑dispersive infrared photometry. At present, infrared spectrophotometry is widely adopted in most domestic applications in China.
