Portable Infrared Oil Analyzer

Traditional component analysis requires sampling first followed by qualitative measurement, which is time-consuming and unable to obtain measurement data in a timely manner.
The molecular functional groups of most substances can absorb infrared light. By leveraging the absorption and conversion of spectral energy, qualitative analysis and quantitative calculation of internal components can be efficiently completed.
The infrared oil analyzer is designed based on this principle. It adopts infrared spectrophotometry and performs spectral scanning on samples. It can display and print the sample spectrum as well as the wavenumber positions of absorption peaks, enabling rapid and accurate determination of the total oil concentration in water.
Definition of Petroleum Oils:
Under the conditions specified in standard HJ637-2012, substances extracted with carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄), not adsorbed by magnesium silicate, and with characteristic absorption at all or partial spectral bands of wavenumbers 2930 cm⁻¹, 2960 cm⁻¹ and 3030 cm⁻¹.
Definition of Animal and Vegetable Oils:
Under the conditions specified in standard HJ637-2012, substances extracted with carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄) and adsorbed by magnesium silicate.
In accordance with the recommended methods of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), China has formulated and issued the environmental standard Water Quality — Determination of Petroleum Oils and Animal and Vegetable Oils — Infrared Photometric Method (HJ637-2012) based on infrared photometry.
The standard specifies two methods: infrared spectrophotometry and non-dispersive infrared photometry. At present, infrared spectrophotometry is widely used in most practical applications in China.

Application:
The infrared oil meter is suitable not only for monitoring the content of petroleum (mineral oil), animal and vegetable oils, and total oil in various water bodies such as surface water, groundwater, seawater, domestic water, and industrial wastewater, as well as in soil, but is also the instrument recommended by national standards for monitoring oil content in flue gas (cooking fumes). In addition, it can be used for purity testing of organic reagents and for measuring the total and partial amounts of organic compounds containing various C-H bonds.
