DO Sensor

Molecular oxygen in the air dissolved in water is defined as dissolved oxygen. Its content is closely related to the oxygen partial pressure in the air and water temperature. Under natural conditions, the oxygen content in the air remains relatively stable, so water temperature becomes the dominant influencing factor. The lower the water temperature, the higher the dissolved oxygen content in water.
Dissolved oxygen is commonly abbreviated as DO, expressed in milligrams of oxygen per liter of water. The dissolved oxygen level is an important indicator for evaluating the self-purification capacity of a water body.
There are two main sources of dissolved oxygen: one is the infiltration of atmospheric oxygen into the water when the dissolved oxygen in water is unsaturated; the other is oxygen released by aquatic plants through photosynthesis. Therefore, dissolved oxygen in water is continuously supplemented by atmospheric dissolution and photosynthesis of green aquatic plants.
However, when a water body is polluted by organic matter, oxygen consumption increases sharply. If dissolved oxygen cannot be replenished in a timely manner, anaerobic bacteria in the water will multiply rapidly, causing organic matter to deteriorate and eventually leading to blackening of the water body.
